October 30th Podcast

After quite a hiatus, we're back! This week HSM3 repeats at the box office leader. This episode was recorded in a PT Cruiser - how many podcasts have been recorded in such a manner?

September 14th 2008 Podcast

This week the Coen Bro's Burn After Reading leads the box office with a strong opening, especially for a back-to-school weekend. However, there was also one insane bomb, and last week's box office leader falls like crazy.

September 7th 2008 Podcast

One of the slowest box offices in recent memory. Nothing really opens, everything falls. Oh the drama!

August 29th 2008 - Podcast

This week we have a boring, end of summer box office. So naturally it's slow, and Tropic Thunder leads again. There are lots of bombs. And Nat and I discuss the biggest bombs of the summer as a whole.

Young People F****** releases next week! We discuss that film as well as the box office. Tropic Thunder holds well and The House Bunny opens pretty strongly.

August 17th 2008- Podcast

Alright, this week we get back to actually focusing on the box office, after weeks of random rambling. Tropic Thunder knocks The Dark Knight out of the #1 spot. There's plenty of box office goodness this week!

August 10th 2008 Podcast

This week we don't really talk about movies all that much. But the box office was kind of boring, so you'd much rather hear about random crap, right?

August 3rd 2008 Podcast

The Dark Knight rules the box office for a third week in a row, despite the opening of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. We're joined by a special guest on this week's show, and the show drifts away from relevant on-topic discussion pretty quickly. Hopefully it's still amusing, definitely our most colorful episode to date.

July 27th 2008 Podcast

This week we make fun of people and talk about The Dark Knight, what's new? The Dark Knight is setting all kinds of records and is on pace to be insanely huge overall. Plus the stupid X-Files movie released and basically disappeared, and Step Brothers opened quite strongly.

July 20th 2008 Podcast

This week is all about The Dark Knight since that seems to be all that anyone is talking about. Well, not exclusively about The Dark Knight, because Mama Mia! also had a very successful opening weekend. But of course Batman-mania rules the day as it surpassed all sorts of box office records... and because Heath Ledger is dead.

July 14th 2008 Podcast

On this week's show we end up discussing The Dark Knight more than the box office leader Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. We anticipate the enormous effect that The Dark Knight will have on next week's box office, as well as discuss movie compatibility. Of course there is amazing commentary on the past weekend's box office, as always. What else would you expect?

July 6th 2008 - Podcast

The podcast for the 4th of July weekend, 2008. Hancock led the box office, and was the only really notable new wide-release this weekend. 4th of July "weekend" is different from a normal weekend, because Hancock opened on July 2nd, due to the holiday. So, we look at the total 5 day opening run of Hancock as opposed to the usual three day weekend. And I realize that the show isn't nearly as scandalous as we think it is, but let me pretend that we're being all daring, it's more fun that way.

June 29th 2008 -Podcast

This week we discuss the weekend box office which was led by Wall-E and Wanted. Do we let the awfulness that is The Love Guru simply die, or do we continue to stomp it into the ground? And we anoint a new "god of the week," following up the anointing of Audrey Hepburn last week.

June 22nd 2008 - Podcast

On the first episode of The Box Officers podcast we discuss the box office results for the weekend of June 20-22. Get Smart, The Love Guru, and Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl.
Obviously, this show is pretty rough, but cut me some slack, it's the first episode.

It kind of starts out all blah, but wait until you hear what we suggest Mike Myers should do for making the crap that is The Love Guru.

First Post - Hiya!

This is the page of The Box Officers podcast, a podcast dedicated to looking at the commercial side of movies. The podcast will attempt to analyze the weekly box office, trailers and advertisements. This is not a movie review podcast, if you are looking for a movie review podcast, check out Filmspotting (www.filmspotting.net). While movie criticism is amazing, it would be pointless to do a film criticism podcast, because there are already so many fantastic ones out there.

I'm creating this podcast because there aren't really any box office podcasts out there right now. (The Box Office Mojo podcast was solid, but they canceled their podcast long ago.) Hopefully this podcast will be fun and informative

You can get in touch at theboxofficers@gmail.com, with any feedback suggestions or random comments.

Thanks, hopefully this will be fun.
